Whenever you make changes to the Windows Registry you need to Refresh it before the changes take place. Simply press F5 to refresh the registry and enable the changes. If this does not work Restart your system **************** Exiting Windows the Cool and Quick Way Normally it takes a hell lot of time just Shutting down Windows, you have to move your mouse to the Start Button, click on it, move it again over Shut Down, click, then move it over the necessary option and click, then move the cursor over the OK button and once again (you guessed it) click. This whole process can be shortened by creating shortcuts on the Desktop which will shut down Windows at the click of a button. Start by creating a new shortcut( right click and select New> Shortcut). Then in the command line box, type (without the quotes.) 'C:windowsrundll.exe user.exe, exitwindowsexec' This ...

1. First, run a scandisk or checkdisk. Let Windows fix any errors. 2. Run a disk cleanup utility...this will flush your temporary internet folder, trash can, temp system files, etc. 3. Delete any garbage files or data...if possible, run a Duplicate File Finder program. 4. Run Defrag on all partitions (NOTE: run this after you have deleted all trash and excess files!) 5. Run a registry cleaner utility and delete or get rid of any orphaned entries in that registry. 6. Check your exisiting swap file for it's size and location (*will explain location later in the post). If you have alot of ram (i.e. 1 gig and over) set this swap file to something small, like 250 mb. The reason is that this will force Windows to load more into memory, resulting in faster performance (note: some games and applications actually require a certain sized swap file so check your applications performance after making a size adjustment for any error messages.) 7. Under XP, you can tell Windows to use Classic St...

NERO: how to verify the validity of the serial number you use through the nerocmd.exe command

NERO: how to verify the validity of the serial number you use through the nerocmd.exe command Nero will accept a serial number even if it is invalid, and will (randomly) occasionally burn you some bad CDs (while telling you that the burn was sucessful...) Therefore it makes sense to test the serial number right after installation (b4 burning anything). Under Dos prompt, go to Nero's directory, type the following: nerocmd --listdrives That is: nerocmd, then a space, then 2 dashes, then listdrives. If you see a message with "OK" in the end of it, then the serial you used is fine. Otherwise, locate another set of number and try again. It really works... ;) Here are some helpful hints in using DOS: 1. Go to your AHEAD/NERO folder (wherever it is in your PC...) and Open it 2. From: START>RUN Type: COMMAND -> click OK 3. Type: nerocmd --listdrives [Enter key]

You will need to have admin access to the PC to preform these actions. That being said, here is the first way to do it: Right click my computer, choose manage. Highlight the Computer Management (Local) then click on Action, choose connect to another computer. In the window that opens fill in the machine name of the PC you want to connect to and click ok. Once connected right click on Computer Management (Remote machine name) and choose properties. Go to the "Advanced" tab and click the Settings button under Start up and recovery. Click on the Shutdown button. Under action choose what you want to do (you can log off current user, shut down, restart, or power down. you can also choose if you want to force all applications to close, close hung apps, or wait for all apps to close by themselves). The second way... Remember dos....

First of all, this tweak only apply to those who only have one HDD on their primary IDE channel (nothing else on device 0 or 1) and a CD-ROM and/or DVD-ROM on the secondary IDE channel. Each time you boot Windows XP, there's an updated file called NTOSBOOT-*.pf who appears in your prefetch directory (%SystemRoot%Prefetch) and there's no need to erease any other files as the new prefetch option in XP really improves loading time of installed programs. We only want WindowsXP to boot faster and not decrease its performance. Thanks to Rod Cahoon (for the prefetch automation process...with a minor change of mine) and Zeb for the IDE Channel tweak as those two tricks, coupled together with a little modification, result in an EXTREMELY fast bootup:

how to search google for RAPIDSHARE links

how to search google for RAPIDSHARE links If you wanna find some apps, files etc on rapidshare.de via google, do the following. Paste this into the google search window (not the adress bar): site:rapidshare.de -filetype:zip OR rar daterange:2453402-2453412 * this searches the site rapidshare.de for any file that is rar or zip, and has been indexed between 1-11 February. dvd site:rapidshare.de -filetype:zip OR rar daterange:2453402-2453412 * this is the same search but it specifically searches for "dvd" with the same search criteria, so any app posted with the word dvd in it will be found. There are mainly three criteria to keep in mind when doing this search. 1. site: your site of choice to search 2. filetype: filetypes you wanna search,if you put a "OR" after the first filetype you can add more. 3. daterange: (start date-enddate) * this uses the "julian calendar", converter can be found here: Code: http://aa.usno.navy.mil/data/docs/JulianDate.html

HOW TO GET ANY WINDOWS PASSWORD

HOW TO GET ANY WINDOWS PASSWORD ok..... here are the full details..... this works whether its windows 2000 or windows xp or windows xp SP1 or SP2 or windows server 2003.... this works even if syskey encryption is employed... if it is FAT filesystem... just copy the sam file like stated in the first post to an empty floppy disk and take it home. I'll tell u what to do with it later... DON'T DELETE THE ORIGINAL SAM FILE. just remove its attributes. the sam file is a file called SAM with no extension. YOU MUST ALSO GET.... a file called SYSTEM which is in the same folder as SAM. both files have no extensions... if it is NTFS.... u have to download a program called NTFSPro.... it allows u to read from ntfs drives... the demo version allows read only. the full version is read-write.... you use the program to create an unbootable disk (so u will still need another bootable disk and an empty disk) that has the required files to access NTFS. use the boot disk to get into dos, then use ...

Partitioning Your Harddisk With Fdisk

Partitioning Your Harddisk With Fdisk Partitioning your HardDisk Partitioning involves creating logical units on your hard drive that are then addressed as different drive letters. Not only does it help to organize your data (program files on one drive, games on another, documents on another) but also to speed up your PC. This is so because the drive head has to move a lesser distance for accessing data within one partition. You can also have different filesystems and OSs on the same hard drive. Partitioning can be done using ‘fdisk’ in DOS/Windows 9x or ‘disk management’ in Windows 2000/ NT/XP. We will describe the procedure for fdisk, since disk management is GUI driven and the basics otherwise remain the same. While several other commercial packages like Partition Magic are available, these utilities (fdisk, computer management) are bundled with their respective OSs. You need a bootable floppy with fdisk.exe, format.com, and sys. com utilities. Before starting, decide how many parti...

Instructions For Removal Of Advertising In Msn Messenger

Instructions For Removal Of Advertising In Msn Messenger If you downloaded MSN Messenger 6.2, you might want to remove the advertising that is placed at the bottom of the main messenger window. I will give you some details to do it manually. To edit the msnmsgr.exe file, you'll need a HEX editor. I found the freeware Hex Editor XVI32 perfectly suited for this task. There is no installation, just download the file, create a folder on your hard drive, unzip the XVI32.zip file there, and run the XVI32.exe file. Note: this is for the latest version of 6.2, 6.2.0137. You can check your version, by choosing Help > About MSN Messenger from the programs menu. When you have the HEX editor running, follow these steps: Make sure you are not running messenger. Right-click its icon in the system tray, and from the menu select Exit Now you'll need to locate the messenger executable msnmsgr.exe, it will normally be in \Program Files\MSN Messenger\ Make a backup of the file. Right-click msn...

This is well written explanation about bandwidth, very useful info.

This is well written explanation about bandwidth, very useful info. BandWidth Explained Most hosting companies offer a variety of bandwidth options in their plans. So exactly what is bandwidth as it relates to web hosting? Put simply, bandwidth is the amount of traffic that is allowed to occur between your web site and the rest of the internet. The amount of bandwidth a hosting company can provide is determined by their network connections, both internal to their data center and external to the public internet. Network Connectivity The internet, in the most simplest of terms, is a group of millions of computers connected by networks. These connections within the internet can be large or small depending upon the cabling and equipment that is used at a particular internet location. It is the size of each network connection that determines how much bandwidth is available. For example, if you use a DSL connection to connect to the internet, you have 1.54 Mega bits (Mb) of bandwidth. Bandwi...
