A man using his cell phone to film a bull run in Spain was thrown head over heels into the air by a hard-charging bull and then gored to death in front of a horrified crowd.
The victim, identified as David González Lopez, 32, was trying to capture a collision between bulls in the central Spanish town of Villaseca de la Sagra when another beast turned back and charged a crowd of gawkers who stepped into the street from behind the safety of barriers, according to reports.
Gruesome video shows Lopez broadsided, tossed 10 feet into the side of a building and then gored in the neck and thigh around 1:30 a.m. Sunday, Mayor Jesus Hijosa said.
"A bull surprised him from behind and gored him in the neck," Hijosa told reporters.
Lopez, from neighboring Villasequilla, was taken to a hospital in Toledo, but succumbed to his injuries later that day, the mayor said.
The week-long Running of the Bulls in Pamplona is the most infamous Spanish festival featuring daring-do runners attempting to avoid a pack of bulls set loose on the town's streets.
But other Spanish towns celebrate their own version of the ancient ritual. Lopez was the fourth death by goring in town festivals so far this year in Spain.
